Hello from Dumfries, Scotland! We have finally arrived after a long day of travel. We had a quick layover in Iceland before arriving in Edinburgh. We experienced a small mishap as three of our bags, with skates in them, did not arrive with us. We did not let our bump in the road ruin our spirits. We did what we do best and came together as a team to help out our fellow teammates who were missing items. We can only hope that the three pairs of skates arrive before we compete our short program on Friday.
Once we landed in Edinburgh, we stopped to have a quick lunch at a local restaurant before going on the Harry Potter tour. On this tour we got to see some of the real life places that inspired parts on the books. We even got to see the original coffee shop where J.K. Rowling wrote the books. This tour was neat and gave us a great opportunity to see the local area. It was also a great way to stretch our legs after our long flights. After our tour, we were able to have a little free time exploring the area with our families and teammates. A group of us went up the long winding path to the Castle. It sits high above the city, so you can see for miles. The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking! It is always nice to do some sightseeing to experience the local culture.
Next, we are off to Dumfries where the competition is being held. Tonight we had a quick unofficial practice at the competition rink. It went very well and provided us a great way to get our legs moving. We are all super excited to skate our programs this weekend.
