This Saturday, November 19, the Skating Club of Boston will host the Boston Synchronized Skating Classic in Marlborough, Mass. As one of the first major east coast competitions of the season, it is the start of many teams competitive season.
Kicking off the competition will be the synchro skills divisions. Synchro skills 1 features Skyliners, Synchro Stars, Team Excel Boston, Team Excel Foxboro and Winterettes Red while synchro skills 2 features Chesapeake Synchro, CNY Chill, Snowflurries, Synchro Stars S2, Team Excel, The Colonials and Winterettes Blue. The synchro skills 3 division has only one team, Team Excel.
The first IJS division will be juvenile featuring the Mini Mates, Precisely Right, Skyliners, Snowflakes, Team Delaware and Team Image. With Juvenile going IJS for the first time this year, it will be interesting to see how this division plays out this weekend and throughout the season.
Next will be the adult division with Esprit de Corps, Team Excel and The Colonials. All three teams finished in the top five at Nationals last year and are looking to start their seasons with a bang.
The junior division will only feature one team, Lexettes. They will be followed by the two senior teams Haydenettes and Team Excel.
Next up are the six open-juvenile teams: Central Park Ice, CNY Blizzard, Island Waves, Munchkins, Starcatchers and Team Excel. Following is the pre-juvenile division with eleven teams including Central Park Ice, CNY Storm, Icing on the Cape, Precisely Right, Shooting Stars, Skyliners, Starcatchers, Synchro Stars, Team Delaware, Team Excel and The Colonials.
The novice division will follow with five teams: Chesapeake Synchro, DC EDGE, Ice Mates, Skyliners and Team Image.
The one collegiate team, Metroettes, will compete next followed by the return of Esprit de Corps in the masters division.
Following will be the preliminary division: Chesapeake Synchro, Precisely Right, Shooting Stars Preliminary, Skyliners, Skyliners Pre-Preliminary, Team Delaware, Team Excel, Team Image and The Colonials. Last year’s top two finishers Skyliners and Team Image will no doubt look to repeat their success.
The intermediate division is next and with twelve teams: Central Park Ice, DC EDGE, Icing on the Cape, Precisely Right, Skyliners, Star Mates, Superettes, Synchro Stars, Team Delaware, Team Excel, Team Image and The Colonials.
Three universities will be represented in the open collegiate division: Cornell University University of New Hampshire and the University of Vermont.
