As we walked toward the breakfast room this morning our noses were filled with the aroma of eggs and bacon. One of our teammates mom’s had made a make shift kitchen and cooked us a nice home cooked breakfast. With full bellies, we were ready to head to our first unofficial practice of the day! We warmed up and had our first practice on the official ice surface. We did a run-through of our short program. It felt strong and cohesive. After our 20-minute practice we headed back to the BU dining hall and had a delicious lunch. Many of the BU students were asking us questions and wishing us good luck! It was nice to know we have the support of the students.
After spending some time outside enjoying the sun, we went to the unofficial practice rink. We warmed up and got ready for our 2nd 20-minute practice of the day. We were ready to have a strong, calm, and solid practice. We did small sections of both programs. Each section felt neat and relaxed. It was nice to see the stands filled with friends and family! We enjoyed some singing on the bus ride back to the hotel with Team South Africa.
The Official draw was scheduled to take place at our hotel. We changed into our Team USA gear and headed to the ballroom. As we took our seats you could feel the excitement in the atmosphere! Each draw ceremony that I have been to has been different. This one was very nice! We all sat together by country. The BU Synchronized Skating Team created a great video about Boston that we all watched. Then we drew for the skating order. Each team made a short video clip that played while a representative from the team went up to the stage to pick a number. Miami drew 6th and we drew 19th out of 20 teams! We are very happy with our skating order and are excited for what tomorrow will bring!
More to come tomorrow!
