The start to an exciting week!
The week leading up to the World Synchronized Skating Championships was very exciting and filled with lots of practices. Each day the number on our count down poster got smaller and smaller as we neared the competition.
After a great practice on Tuesday at the Walter Brown Arena we headed to the official hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we had a lovely team meeting with our team leader, team doctor and our fellow Team USA members, Miami University. Our team leader, Robin Greenleaf started out the meeting by handing us each a rose and an inspirational card. With this we were ready to start our journey at the World Championships! After our meeting we ended the night with a great dinner as a team.
Wednesday morning we woke up to an amazing article about the team and the World Championships in the Boston Globe! After that we had some breakfast, got ready and headed to the rink for our first unofficial practice. The practice went really well and we felt strong! In between our practices we got to enjoy some time at the BU dining hall. We have all seen at our own colleges’ sports teams sitting together eating in the dining hall. To be able to finally sit together and share that experience was great!
After, we enjoyed some down time at the rink playing some of our favorite games! Our second practice was on the official ice where we did one run-through of our free program. It was nice to be able to feel the ice and see the rink’s atmosphere. Seeing the American flags waving in the stands and seeing some of our family and friends cheering gave us extra energy and enhanced our performance. We were very happy with how we skated and are excited about the upcoming week!
With our hungry stomachs, we went back to the hotel where we got changed and headed to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner! Tomorrow we have 2 more practices!
More to come from Boston!
