On the sunny, beautiful Monday morning of January 13, the Haydenettes and Lexettes were given the honor of performing at the historic Fenway Park to conclude the Frozen Fenway series. This was the first figure skating show to occur at Fenway Park, and the Lexettes and Haydenettes got to take the ice, planted in the middle of the outfield. Meeting at Fenway very early in the morning, the teams made their way into the visiting team’s locker room for warm-up before a short practice on the ice. As we sat there, we marveled at the thought of the great athletes who sat there prior to us. We entered the park through the tunnel, and even got to sit in the Red Sox dugout. The show was a great success. Joined by Ryan Bradley and other guests from the Skating Club of Boston, the crowd was thrilled to see figure skating on the field after many hockey games in week’s prior. Both teams skated beautiful programs and got chills hearing the crowd cheer from the stands above. During the closing ceremony, the Red Sox mascot, Wally the Green Monster, took the ice with the World Series trophy. We took plenty of photos and had a great time.
