Bonjour from Rouen!
After catching up on some much-needed sleep, the Haydenettes woke up and had a very yummy breakfast of croissants, eggs, fruit, yogurt and coffee! We then put our hair into buns, got changed, grabbed our skates and walked the cobblestone streets to meet our awesome bus driver Bernie.
We skated a strong and energetic unofficial practice. Working on both the long and the short, we left the ice feeling confident and ready to go! After a quick shower, we broke into groups for some shopping and lunch. The French café we ate at made the perfect spot to spend our afternoon.
Tonight we grabbed our Team U.S.A. warm up suits, new U.S.A hats, our light up gloves and headed out into the drizzle for the parade. We enjoyed what we could and took some awesome Team U.S.A pictures before it started to pour. Our coach and managers decided that it was best to head back to the hotel in order to stay healthy for the competition. It was great to see some of the other countries and made us really excited to compete tomorrow. Our team representatives, Devin and Lindsay headed back out into the rain for the draw. We drew 4th and will skate at around 8:21pm Rouen time. The Skyliners Jr. skate first in the junior division and the Ice’Kateers skate last in the senior division. We are so excited to compete and to represent the United States of America! Make sure to check out the live feed http://www.frenchcup.fr/en/event-info/live/live-streaming/ and good luck to all of the other teams competing.
