Lexettes JWCC Blog Post: Day 4
Today was short program day! We started our morning with a good breakfast from the hotel, and got ready for official practice. Our short program theme starts out with a blues/jazz piece “Feeling Good” sung by Ms. Lauren Hill, and halfway through changes to Flo Rida’s hip hop “How I Feel”. Our official practice was strong and left us feeling confident for the competition that night. After video review, we ate lunch and had a few hours to rest. We usually leave about an hour and a half to get ready for the short program. Stepping on the ice we definitely felt a little tentative, but that dissipated once we started the warm up block. Although we had a fall in one of our transitions, we felt we skated a strong short program. We were happy with the execution of our elements, and were especially pleased to get our no hold step sequence called, as we were one of the two teams to get level four steps. We were also pleased with our pivoting block, which had good flow, and was called as a level three. Currently we are in eighth place, and we are very motivated to go back out there tomorrow and show the judges our strong Bollywood themed long program!
Lexettes JWCC Blog Post: Day 5
Today was long program day! We woke up mid morning and had a nutritious breakfast. We took the ice at our official practice determined and fearless. After video review we were feeling very confident. Before we left for the competition we had a couple hours to rest and two hours to get ready. When it came time to compete our program, we could not have been more prepared. Throughout the skate, we worked together, and fed off of each other’s energy. It was a beautiful performance, and we could not have been happier with how we ended our season. We got all of our elements called except for the traveling circle, which received a level 3. This is a tremendous accomplishment for us, and was one of our goals going into this competition. At the end, we finished in 7th place. We want to congratulate Skyliners with a beautiful long program performance, and overall 4th place finish. Overall, it was a fantastic weekend for the Lexettes, and we are so grateful to have had this opportunity. The end of this season already has us feeling very motivated for the next! GO USA!
