We woke up Friday morning and had a quick breakfast before our 8:50 am official practice. We skated confidently with lots of expression that morning, excited to show off our program to the judges. After official, we came back to the hotel and were able to rest and eat lunch before prepping for the competition.
Once we got to the rink, we heard cheers from the audience for the last novice group on the ice. The stands were already packed and we knew this was going to be an exciting competition. As we walked out to the ice, we got a burst of energy and skated a good, clean skate. We were pleased with our skate, but we know we can do better and put more energy and passion into each movement. Once we changed, we went into the stands and cheered on our fellow USA Team, Chicago Jazz. Later, we went back into town to get a quick dinner before coming back to the rink to watch the Haydenettes, who skated a beautiful short program.
We ended up placing 9th overall in the short program, though we had a good skate we know that there’s lots we have to work on, and well bring on even more energy and excitement for our long program tonight!
