Olemme saapuneet Helsinkiin!
We arrived here around noon after our long trip from Boston. Our travels started Monday afternoon at our home rink in Lexington, MA, where half of the team and managers met to ride to the airport. In Boston we met the rest of the team, checked-in and got ready to start our final and most exciting trip of the season. We flew from Boston to Frankfurt and then Frankfurt to Helsinki. The flights were long, but pretty uneventful- just a little turbulent because of strong winds.
We could feel the excitement building as we landed in Helsinki and collected our bags… We had finally made it to the World Championships! Our coach, Saga was greeted by her sister and two nephews upon arrival. We were all excited to see them and excited to be in Saga’s home country. After a quick bus ride to the hotel, it was already time to get ready for our first practice!
Led by Saga and our Team Doctor, we walked to practice rink. Despite having just arrived a few hours before, our practice was strong and we felt happy with our skating. The walk back to the hotel was a good chance for some fresh air before a little down time and dinner. At dinner we were able to see more of the teams arriving to check-in as well as catching up with some our of US teammates from Miami University.
Even with all of our excitement, we are all ready to go to bed early! Tomorrow will be another exciting day for sure!
