Skyliners to Offer Substantial Grants to Skaters Enrolled in College
USA, NY, New York, March 5, 2012. The Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team, Inc. announces that it will provide substantial grants to skaters enrolled in college who are accepted onto its Senior or Junior lines for the 2012-13 competitive season. Tryouts for the Senior and Junior lines, who are sponsored by the Skating Club of New York, will be held March 21, 23 and 25. The Senior line just completed its inaugural season and finished in Fifth Place at the 2012 Synchronized Skating National Championships, held March 1-3 in Worcester, MA. The Junior line won the Junior World Qualifier held in Lowell, MA in January and will represent the United States as USA1 at the upcoming Junior World Challenge Cup in Gothenberg, Sweden.
The Skyliners were formed in 2001 and had 164 skaters across 8 lines during the 2011-12 season. The stipends to collegiate skaters are being made possible by a significant donation to the organization. “The organization and its coaches are very excited about this generous donation that will facilitate the continuation of world class achievement by our skaters. These stipends will allow skaters to follow their athletic dreams, while committing themselves to their academic advancement,” says Josh Babb, the Director of Synchronized Skating for the Skyliners. “We know that there are a number of high-level skaters who enroll in college in the New York area and we want the best to skate with us.”
Clinics and Tryouts for Beginner through Senior will be held at Rye Playland, Westchester Skating Academy and Stamford Twin Rinks starting with our first clinic on March 5. See the Skyliners website for the tryout schedule and a list of area colleges. www.skylinerssynchro.com
