Final update from Brittany Nagel of the Crystallettes Senior team.
Throughout the on-ice sessions of camp we all were taught many different exercises and drills to take back home to master. We had a class on twizzles, movement and expression, edges, and power. I enjoyed these classes because we tried many variations on series and turns that go out of the box of the typical synchro combinations. My personal favorite class was the edges class with Rohene because we worked on drills that involved our whole body for turns and series that wouldn’t necessarily require it. It challenged me as a skater to adapt to the different coaching styles quickly, and opened up a good opportunity to build my skills. The other classes we had off of the ice were yoga and sports psychology. Yoga class provided a good opportunity for all of us to stretch out and relax, I noticed it had a positive impact on all of us. Sports psychology was a very informative class on the three pillars of psychology to reach mindfulness. Caroline gave us all wristbands to use as an exercise to prevent negativity – switch the wrist the band is on every time you have a negative thought, and you must counteract it with positivity to switch it back to the correct wrist. Overall I loved camp and I’m excited to get home and work on the skills and drills I learned while I was there. – Brittany
