History: The members of Gotham City Synchro are as diverse as our hometown. Covering a wide range of ages, we are doctors, lawyers, accountants, architects, engineers, teachers, writers, students and mothers. Each of us brings a unique heritage, style and skill to the ice, creating a team spirit that’s hard to rival! We practice every week on a rooftop rink that overlooks the Manhattan skyline, honing our three-spokes, kicklines and pass-throughs as the sun comes up over the East River. Donning our black and white team uniforms (with the occasional brightly colored snow hat or mittens on really cold mornings), we’ve weathered everything from injuries and work deadlines to public transit nightmares and major storms. We’ve been a team since 2006, and we’ve been competing locally and regionally since then as proud members of the Skating Club of New York. With each passing year, we aim to up the ante with new skills and more challenging programs. While we’re not on the ice, we can occasionally be found socializing together around the Big Apple. Skating with the team is more than just an extra-curricular sport for GCS members. Through our oftentimes hectic practice and competition schedule every year, we find ourselves making lasting friendships and building confidence we can translate to other parts of our lives. That’s worth it’s weight more so than any gold medals! This is our first year skating in the Masters category after years of medal-winning performances as an Open Adult team, and we’re very excited to meet the challenges of competing at this new level.
Tryout Information: We are invited anyone who is interested in joining us to come to our spring practices. We will hold formal tryouts this summer.
