The first major regional competition of the season begins this weekend in Plymouth, Mass. More than 40 teams from up and down the east coast will come together for the 16th Annual Thanksgiving Classic.
Monitoring sessions for IJS teams will be held in conjunction with the Classic at Hobomock Arena on Saturday morning. Over at Armstrong Arena the official competition begins at noon with the beginner division followed by juvenile and open juvenile.
The IJS portion of the competition will kick-off with the intermediate division at 2:00 p.m. Expected leaders in the intermediate division include the reigning national pewter medalists, the Skyliners, and Eastern pewter medalists, the Colonials.
The junior division will prove to be exciting with two new teams, Team Delaware and the Florida Sunsations, facing off against three members of Team USA, including the Skyliners, the Lexettes and the Synchroettes. All five teams will compete in the short program, while only the Florida Sunsations, the Synchroettes and the Skyliners will compete the long.
Pre-juvenile and preliminary will lead into the novice competition after an awards ceremony at 3:30. Five teams are set to compete in the novice division, with national competitors the Skyliners and Team Delaware entering as the favorites against the Synchroettes and two new teams to the novice division, Philadelphia Symmetry and Team Esprit.
