Today was a busy and exciting day! We had two very strong unofficial practices followed by highly constructive video review sessions. Coach Saga has been relaying some last-minute wisdom to us from various people, which has helped us further solidify our programs. We’ve received an incredible amount of support and feedback from Dann Krueger, Dr. Suzanne Hecht, Leslie Graham, Jeanette Davey, and the coaches of the WIN Program. We are so grateful to have such a phenomenal group of individuals from US Figure Skating here with us in Zagreb!
After the practices, we travelled into the city for a little while to do some sightseeing and shopping. The environment of the city – the people, the shops, the whole square in itself – was such an amazing place to be in. It is so mind blowing that we will soon be competing for the USA here!
Once we finished sightseeing and shopping, we went back to the arena for the Opening Ceremony and the draw. Watching these two events is always so exciting and grounding – with the all the different flags on the ice and the different countries’ national colors in the stands, it really gives the feeling of all synchronized skating teams in the world being a huge community.
It was also so awesome how all the teams were singing and dancing along to the wonderful Croatian singer! He did an amazing job, as did the skater who skated to his rendition of “Fly Me to the Moon”.
We drew 13th out of 24 teams today, so we will be first in the third group tomorrow for the short! We absolutely cannot wait “light up the world” with the short program! We have been working so hard for so long, and now we hope to put our best out there. We are ready to make our country proud!
We are so happy to have the beautiful Skyliners (who drew 24th) as our fellow Team USA members, and we are so excited to cheer them on! LEX DO IT, TEAM USA!
Do sutra (until tomorrow) and GO USA!
